10th-largest Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs: Is your state due for a win?
After no ticket matched the winning numbers on Friday, the Mega Millions jackpot has grown to an estimated $707 million, making it the 10th-largest prize in game history. It is the largest lottery grand prize of the year. Some states have been luckier than others: New York has sold 42 jackpot-winning Mega Millions tickets since 2002, California 37. Nineteen jurisdictions are still awaiting their first Mega Millions jackpot: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming, District of Columbia, and U.S. Virgin Islands. Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah do not participate. Nine states have sold only one grand prize ticket: Maine, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arkansas, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Idaho, and Kansas. Idaho has the longest drought, last winning in 2011. Ohio sold the most recent winning ticket in March 2024. California has sold five of the 20 largest Mega Millions jackpots. The next drawing is at 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
