After a run of unseasonably warm days in late December and early January, Arkansas is expected to get walloped with a monster of a winter storm that will more than make up for the reprieve. The weather system is expected to bring heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain to the state beginning Friday and lasting through early Sunday. Temperatures could plunge to the single digits. Almost all of Arkansas is now under a winter storm watch, according to the National Weather Service. Much of the rest of the central U.S. will also be hit. If you're looking for a more exact forecast in your part of the state, though, you'll have to wait. Meteorologists said Wednesday it's too soon to tell just how much precipitation to expect -- and crucially, where the dividing line will fall between snow and ice. According to KARK chief meteorologist Todd Yakoubian, it's uncertain as of Wednesday whether Central Arkansas will see heavy snow or a mere dusting of snow accompanied by a serious amount of sleet.
