Arkansas football notebook: 'Some positives, some negatives' from both QBs in spring game | Whole Hog Sports
FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas football coach Ryan Silverfield said he saw both good and bad from his top two quarterbacks in the Razorbacks' spring game Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. KJ Jackson, who led the Red team that won 14-13, and AJ Hill, who led the White team, are in competition for the starting role this season. Silverfield and his staff split up the teams for the spring game so that some first-team players were on each side, meaning both quarterbacks were surrounded by teammates of differing levels. Unofficially, Jackson completed 9 of 13 passes for 129 yards with 1 touchdown. Hill completed 9 of 17 for 95 yards with 1 rushing touchdown and 1 interception. There were some inaccurate balls from both passers, but Hill's stat line in particular was affected by drops. "I think you got to see some throws today where you'd sit there and say, 'Man, that was a big-time throw. That guy could be a starter for the Razorbacks and a great quarterback in the SEC,'" Silverfield said. "And then other times you'd say, 'Oh, that read needed to happen quicker.
