FAYETTEVILLE -- Second-year Kentucky women's basketball coach Kenny Brooks made a prediction Feb. 1 following a 92-70 victory over Arkansas. Though his Wildcats had beaten an SEC-winless foe by a comfortable margin, the game was tight until late. Aside from a defensive collapse over the final stages, the Razorbacks had gone toe-to-toe with a ranked opponent. They even held a brief lead with three minutes remaining in the third quarter. "They're going to catch someone," Brooks said. "I'm just fortunate, we're fortunate, it wasn't tonight. They're going to catch someone because they're good enough to do so." He offered encouraging words to first-year Arkansas coach Kelsi Musick when going through the handshake line, understanding the uphill climb it is to rebuild a program in the mighty SEC. "I just told her to keep her head up and keep battling," Brooks said. "She's good enough in this league. Their team is good enough."
