FAYETTEVILLE -- After a lengthy break between games, the Arkansas women's basketball team is set to welcome a team that figures to enter Bud Walton Arena with a heightened sense of confidence Thursday.
Fresh off one of the SEC's more eye-opening games yet, Georgia (16-3, 2-3 SEC) looks to build upon a dominant 82-59 victory over No. 18 Ole Miss when it faces the Razorbacks at 6:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
It was no fluke when the Lady Bulldogs routed the Rebels, having led for all but 1 minute, 27 seconds, and were ahead by as many as 28 points late. The result caught the attention of the women's college basketball world, as the commanding win came 17 days after Georgia began its SEC slate with a 79-62 loss playing at Ole Miss in the frontend of a home-and-home.
Two things stood out from the stark difference in those results: Georgia is a team to take seriously this season, and winning away from home is no easy feat.
Despite beginning its conference schedule winless, Arkansas (11-9, 0-5) will hope the second of those takeaways rings most true when it tries to play spoiler against a Lady Bulldogs team projected to make the NCAA Tournament.
