William "Bill" Walker Jr. says the reasons for his termination Monday as president of Arkansas Baptist College were never adequately explained to him, although he did relate that he strongly opposed the board's move to put students in a downtown Little Rock hotel.
Walker made the comments on a social media post on Tuesday.
"I appeared before the Board, answered all questions presented, and was subsequently dismissed," he wrote. "However, when I sought clarification on the specific conduct constituting the stated cause, the College's legal counsel, Jerry Malone, was unable to identify or articulate the specific basis at that time, indicating 'I need to wrap my head around this and I will get back to you in 24-48 hours.'"
On Monday, Roland Gosey, chairman of the college's board of trustees, barely mentioned Walker in an email about his termination, focusing instead on the appointment of Dr. George Herts as acting president.
