Over the past several years, the massive travel center Buc-ee's has become a massive cultural touchstone in the United States, bringing its notoriously clean bathrooms and supermarket-like interior to 13 different states throughout the country.
While the expansion has been notable, Buc-ee's founder and CEO of Buc-ee's Arch "Beaver" Aplin III, recently made waves when he indicated that the travel chain would prioritize "business-friendly" red states over blue states for further expansion, leading Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders to weigh in.
'Conservative, business-friendly states'
As Buc-ee's opened a new location in Benton, Arkansas, Alpin gave a speech in which he offered some insight into why the company chooses to build its stores in certain places.
Although he acknowledged that Buc-ee's is expanding to "a lot of places," he also made it clear that the company is more likely to prioritize red states over blue states.
