COMMENTARY: Streams of opinions | Jefferson City News-Tribune
Some random observations about some political issues: Democrats need to avoid falling into the trap of opposing the war against Iran just because Donald Trump started it (although one could argue that Iran did, nearly 50 years ago, when it seized our embassy and diplomats in Tehran). There is plenty to criticize when it comes to our military action against Iran, including the incoherent, constantly shifting justifications put forth for it by the administration and a continued failure to identify objectives that would make possible a definition of victory. Still, our campaign was decades overdue, and any president who can rid the Middle East of the baleful influence of the mullahs will deserve tremendous credit, whether Democrat or Republican (and let us hope that Trump has failed to settle for any outcome other than that by the time this sees print). Democrats might see Trump (and Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu) as their enemy, but the old saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" doesn't apply when the enemies are the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nicolas Maduro, and Hamas terrorists.
