Danger persists as deadly winter storm continues to grip the ArkLaTex
SHREVEPORT, La. - The winter storm continues to impact the ArkLaTex on its second day with heavy ice accumulation and dangerous temperatures. Stay off the roads. It's not safe and not worth the risk. The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed that two people have died in Caddo Parish due to hypothermia. Travel is extremely dangerous as ice and snow cover local roads. The urban section of I-49 in Shreveport is closed in both directions between Bert Kouns and I-20. Several ramps at the I-220 and I-49 interchange are also closed to traffic. Tens of thousands of residents are currently without power as freezing rain and sleet create hazardous conditions across Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
