A teenage girl from Arkansas is suing Delta Air Lines for $2.35 million after a flight attendant for Endeavor Air falsely accused her father of human trafficking and sexually abusing her on a flight to Newport News, Virginia. The incident occurred in December 2019 when the Cupp family was traveling from Memphis to attend their son's graduation from the United States Coast Guard. The family had booked tickets with Delta, involving a connection at Atlanta Hartsfield. During the second flight, a flight attendant wrongly believed the father was human trafficking his daughter and reported it to the pilot, who alerted airport staff and law enforcement. The father was comforting his daughter during turbulence, which raised suspicion. After landing, law enforcement removed the girl from her family and interrogated her and her father publicly. The lawsuit claims Delta's training was lacking and led to false accusations. The family seeks $2 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages. Similar incidents have occurred with Delta and other airlines.
