Forty Under 40 panel talks about trusting one's instincts, taking risks
A panel of speakers offered leadership advice to the 2026 Forty Under 40 class during a luncheon to honor their achievements. More than 400 people attended the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal's 30th annual Forty Under 40 luncheon Tuesday (Aug. 11) at Embassy Suites in Rogers. The event is sponsored by Intrust Bank. NWABJ Editor-in-Chief Roby Brock moderated a panel discussion with the following three guests: Robert Burns, director of the Home Region Program at the Walton Family Foundation; Blake Woolsey, chief strategy and communications officer for the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas; and Rebecca Hurst, managing partner and a founder of Smith Hurst PLC. Raised in North Carolina, Burns said he started his career in local government and worked in four states. He later worked in the nonprofit sector before transitioning to the private sector. He spent about 18 years working for Citigroup in Washington, D.C., before moving to Northwest Arkansas. Some of the variety in his career wasn't something he'd planned, he said.
