Hyde, Griffen face off in Pulaski County Democratic primary for county judge post | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
Democratic voters in Pulaski County will have two choices when they vote for county judge in the March 3 primary election. Their choices are incumbent Barry Hyde and retired Pulaski County Circuit Judge Wendell Griffen. The winner will face unopposed Republican candidate Michael Rushin in November. Hyde, 69, is attempting to capture his fourth term in the office after he was first elected to the position in 2014. He says that his reelection bid is partially motivated by the fact he's "not done with (his) projects." There are two main projects Hyde identified that he wants to see through to completion: Providence Park, a transition community for the chronically homeless and the Southwest Trail. "I'm invested in this role," Hyde said Thursday. "If there's anything I've learned in this political life and in my retirement job is, if you don't finish your project, nobody else will. That's just kind of the way it is." When it's finished, Providence Park will be a 50-acre community that will provide permanent housing for up to 400 people.
