Lenders extend America's Car-Mart deadline to Friday | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Roger-based America's Car-Mart has gained a little more time with the company's lenders, who extended a Sept. 7 loan deadline to Friday. The buy-here, pay-here used car company has been working to stay afloat for months, has struggled to get new financing and been forced to close more than 40 lots around the nation to cut costs. Its lenders have given the company some grace to meet certain financial benchmarks but are keeping a tight rein on Car-Mart's operations. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Car-Mart reported the new Sept. 11 deadline to hit certain metrics or be in default with its creditors, including its primary lender Silver Point Finance, LLC. "As previously disclosed, the Company is also engaged in an evaluation of strategic alternatives, overseen by a special committee of the Company's board of directors and which may include potential financing, recapitalization, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and other transactions," the fling reads. "The Company believes it has made significant progress towards a transaction and that discussions remain active with third-parties, the Agent, and the Lenders."
