Simmons Bank will close 26 branches, including 6 in Arkansas | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
Simmons Bank has decided to close 26 branches across its six-state footprint, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The bank said the decision is "part of a broader review of the Company's retail network strategy ... intended to align Simmons Bank's branch network with evolving customer preferences while maintaining customer access, preserving service levels, and continuing to provide advice, guidance, and financial solutions through nearby branches and other banking channels." Jay Brogdon, the bank's president and chief executive officer, told Arkansas Business on Thursday that six Arkansas branches in Fort Smith, Hot Springs, Jonesboro, North Little Rock and Pine Bluff will close. The bank will also close six branches in Texas, six in Tennessee, five in Missouri and three in Oklahoma. In the Tuesday SEC filing, Simmons said its management believes customers will see limited disruptions, "as there is no significant geographic concentration among the affected locations."
