Walmart stores in several states, including Arkansas, are recalling a tomato soup due to potential listeria contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Kettle Cuisine LLC recalled Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup kits distributed with a best by date of Aug. 22 in Walmart stores, the FDA said in a news release on Thursday. The product has the potential to be contaminated with listeria, the release said.
Those infected with listeria bacteria can develop intestinal or invasive illness and may experience fever, flu-like symptoms, headaches, stiff neck, diarrhea and vomiting, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control. Illnesses are most likely to harm those who are pregnant or have weakened immune systems, the CDC website says.
Those who develop an intestinal illness from listeria should drink plenty of fluids, and those with invasive illnesses from the bacteria may need to be treated with antibiotics, the website says.
Customers who purchased the recalled soup should dispose of it and seek a refund, the release said. Customers who have eaten the recalled product should contact a healthcare provider if they experience listeria symptoms, the release said....
