The four children of Walmart Inc. founder Sam Walton will be inducted together next year into the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame.
Rob, Alice, Jim and the late John Walton make up the 2027 class. They follow their father's induction in 1999.
Brent Williams, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, said as the business college celebrates its centennial anniversary, this induction reminds people of the impact entrepreneurs and innovators have on their communities via business.
"The Walton family has had an incredible impact on Arkansas and the entire world," he said. "They have had the foresight to see possibilities and the courage to take risks, creating opportunities that remind (us that) our history is ultimately a story about people -- people whose vision, leadership and commitment have strengthened the communities around them."
The university's college of business created the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame in 199, with Sam Walton being an inaugural inductee.
The Walton children are being honored for their contributions to business, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and to the state of Arkansas.
