Williams discusses successes, future of Walton College of Business

The University of Arkansas Sam M. Walton College of Business is marking its 100 years as a college on the state's flagship campus. Part of that includes inducting four of the Walton children -- Alice, Jim, John and Rob -- into the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame next year. In 1926, the business college had 21 students and four faculty members. Today, there are more than 10,000 students in the Walton College of Business. The inflection point for the college came in 1998 when the Walton family gave $50 million and Sam Walton's name to propel the school to new heights. Northwest Arkansas Business Journal Editor-in-Chief Roby Brock interviewed Brent Williams, dean of the Walton College, to discuss the rapid growth of the college and where the education of its students is headed. Roby Brock: How does having the Walton name open doors for you guys? Is there a more recognizable name in business? Brent Williams: It's hard to say that there is.
