Jerral Wayne "Jerry" Jones grew up listening to Arkansas Razorbacks athletics on the radio, which formed his desire to be part of the University of Arkansas football team. Jones, 83, was born in Los Angeles and his family moved to North Little Rock when he was 3 years old. He became a starting offensive lineman for the 1964 Razorbacks, who posted an 11-0 record and were named national champions by the Football Writers Association of America. "The leadership just emanates from there," teammate Ken Hatfield said of Jones and his position.

Gonzales student named to University of Arkansas fall 2025 dean's list

Josiah Cox, of Gonzales, has been named to the University of Arkansas dean's list for the 2025 fall semester. Cox joins a distinguished group of students recognized for outstanding academic achievement by earning a grade-point average of 3.75-3.99 during the semester while completing at least 12 credit hours required for graduation. School of Law students are named to the Law School dean's list by earning a 3.0 grade-point average or higher for the semester. "I'd like to congratulate each student who made the Dean's List for the fall semester," said Provost Indrajeet Chaubey.
