DENVER, Colo. (KOAA) -- Governor Jared Polis is increasingly indicating he's considering some form of clemency for Tina Peters, the former Mesa County clerk convicted of an election security breach. Though her name wasn't mentioned during his final State of the State address last week, reporters pressed him on the topic in a briefing after the speech. Polis said the growing chorus believing he'll issue a pardon or commutation of her sentence isn't overshadowing any of his priorities in his final year of office.

According to KAIT, 51-year-old Carla Renee Shaw was taken into custody after allegedly stealing hundreds of prescription pills. The investigation began on Dec. 30 after administrators at The Springs of Batesville Nursing Home in Batesville, Arkansas, contacted law enforcement regarding alleged theft incidents.

TEXARKANA, Texas - As Texarkana braces for possibly the first winter weather storm of the year, transportation crews are pre-treating roadways on both sides of the state line. "Our goal is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best," said Heather Deaton, TXDOT public information officer. Deaton says they're working now to pre-treat highways with a salt and water solution to help prevent ice bonding to the roadway. All their maintenance offices are equipped with brine makers.

After a run of unseasonably warm days in late December and early January, Arkansas is expected to get walloped with a monster of a winter storm that will more than make up for the reprieve. The weather system is expected to bring heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain to the state beginning Friday and lasting through early Sunday. Temperatures could plunge to the single digits. Almost all of Arkansas is now under a winter storm watch, according to the National Weather Service. Much of the rest of the central U.S. will also be hit.
