Auburn's recent SEC struggles continued on Tuesday night. The Tigers fell to Vanderbilt 84-76, their third consecutive conference loss. The Commodores were in control most of the night. Auburn led for just 20 seconds of game time, with its last advantage 19-18 in the first half. Tyler Tanner led the way for Vandy. He had a game-high 25 points, with 19 coming in the second half. Jalen Washington added 22 points. Auburn outscored the Dores 45-42 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 42-31 deficit from the early going. Things got interesting late when Auburn cut it to 70-66 with 2:42 to go after a Tahaad Pettiford layup. The Commodores, however, closed out strong by going on a quick 7-0 run over the next minute. Pettiford was Auburn's leading scorer with 21 points, but was just 7-of-18 from the field. Keyshawn Hall was 3-of-13 on field-goal attempts. For the night, the Tigers shot 40% while Vandy made 46% of its field-goal attempts. The Dores also had more free-throw attempts (30-27) at a higher clip (87-78%).
