Springdale-based Chandler Capital Group announced Monday (Feb. 2) that it has acquired Free Spirit Recreation, a Golden, Colo.-based designer and developer of rooftop tents and camping accessories for vehicles. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition was completed Jan. 30. "We've always believed the best brands are built by people who live the lifestyle," said Chris Chandler on behalf of Chandler Capital Group. "Free Spirit Recreation earns trust the hard way, by building gear that works when it matters. Our goal is to protect that legacy and give it the support to grow even further." Free Spirit Recreation, founded in Golden in 2014, will relocate its operations to Springdale. Chandler said Free Spirit Recreation consisted of six full-time employees, contracted labor and outsourced services. One employee is remaining with the brand, working remotely. The company plans to hire three or four employees in Northwest Arkansas as the business grows. Free Spirit Recreation will operate under Chandler Capital Group alongside the company's Backwoods Adventure Mods division.
